The Attacker's New Toy...They are Coming...Are you Preparing?

Quantum computing is a new way of doing computation, that leans on the rules of quantum physics instead of the electronics inside today’s CPUs. A normal computer stores information as bits that are either a 0 or a 1. A quantum computer uses quantum bits, or qubits, which can behave like 0, 1, or a mix of both at once, giving them very different strengths than traditional machines. For a penetration testing and offensive security team, that difference matters because it changes which problems are “hard” or “easy” to compute. Today’s crypto, key management, and even some defensive analytics are built on assumptions about how long certain calculations take. Quantum challenges those assumptions.
